Katy Perry..........................Katy Perry original name Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, (born October 25 1984 Santa Barbara California U.S.) American pop singer who gained fame for a string of anthemic and often sexually suggestive hit songs as well as for a playfully cartoonish sense of style. Perry's first attempts to be a star in the mainstream did not succeed. Perry has been signed by 2 different record labels, but she resigned before she released any material. Capitol Records released Perry's Ur So Gay EP in 2007 and it garnered some interest due to its playful song. "I Kissed" a Girl was a more aggressive ode to sexism, with a sharp edged electro-pop rhythm. I Kissed a Girls was an instant hit, but the song quickly caused controversy. Critics argued that it promoted same-sex sexual relations and others felt that the story which was depicted on the album was more appealing to fantasies of males. I Kissed a Girl became a worldwide number-one hit because of its mix of titillation with a polished tune. The song also assisted her to sell a number of albums, including The One of the Boys. Hot N Cold's sharp and bouncey second track was extremely popular. The album that Perry composed in large part sold more than three million copies.
